Preface from the authors

You are holding the book describing Sogeti’s approach to end-to-end testing as an implementation variant of TMap®. The book is our response to a growing focus on chains in general and end-to-end testing in particular. Together with an expert group, the authors have taken up the challenge of collecting the available knowledge and recording it in this book. In addition to the authors, the Sogeti expert group on end-to-end testing consisted of André Huikeshoven, Giljam Val, Marcel Verhoog and Johan Vink. After agreeing on the definitions and overall end-to-end test process, the authors thoroughly investigated the available knowledge relating to end-to-end testing, primarily by means of interviews with the following colleagues:

Erwin Allers
Patrick Bocken
Nebojša Bojic
Michiel Borchers
Roy Boven
Maurice Craemers
Maurice Cremers
Artie Davidsz
Annemiek van den Heuvel
Marinka Kamminga
Bob Legrand
Maurice de Mare
Michiel van Og
Patrick Oude Luttikhuis
Sjors Pasmans
Sjoerd Nijsten
Michiel Smit
Jorit Smits
Matthijs Stevens
Loek Wilhelmus

We would like to thank all of these people for their commitment to presenting their end-to-end test experience to us in an articulate and most understandable way. We also thank our many unnamed colleagues who, by participating in the creation of the training material, have contributed to the contents of this work.

Our colleagues Daithi Holden, Stephen Hyland, Geoff Nurse and Barry Weston from Sogeti Ireland and Sogeti UK: we would like to thank all you for your reviews.

Software Control colleagues Leo van der Aalst and Johan Vink did the content-focused and integral reviews. Leo van der Aalst also edited the texts from a methodical perspective. Their contribution has improved the quality of this work significantly.

Despite the strict schedule for the book, end-to-end test experts Svetlana Wijnker (who works for SNS Reaal), Rogier van der Burg and Jan-Willem de Jong (who both work for ASR Insurance) were able to review the texts.

This work could not have been accomplished without the inspiration and decisiveness of SC Management Board Members Nijs Blokland and Wim Boluijt.

We thank you all.

Finally, we hope you will derive a lot of pleasure from reading this work and implementing its method.
